Those who favor that the Intern et has many advantages give their r easons as follows. In the first place, the Internet brings us great conveni ence and efficiency. In the second place, we can make frien ds with people from all parts of the world. It overcomes the geographic al barriers and makes the world sm aller. However, the other side of the c oin voices its strong opposition, say ing that the Internet has many weak nesses. For one thing, it can easily l ead to psychological problems. An i nternet-addicted person tends to be isolated, self-centered and unsocia ble. For another, there is a sharp ris e in the number of cyber crimes. Mo re and more financial crimes such a s money laundering are committed via the Internet. In addition, it also h as negative impacts on young peopl e because there are a lot of obscene and violent contents on line.
There is probably a litter bit of t ruth in both arguments. For my part, I completely agree with the latter vie w that the Internet has more disadv antages than advantages. It gives ri se to people’s mental problems. It r esults in various computer crimes. What is more, it is harmful to the gro wth of the young. Something should be done as soon as possible to prot ect people from the negative effects of the Internet.
