For instance, a scammer could pretend to call from a familiar number and use a voice identical to your bank teller's to trick you into revealing personal information.

6. Businesses are particularly at risk, as many transactions are still conducted over the phone, often relying on trust and established relationships. Voice manipulation technologies might gradually erode this trust.

7. We must address the security vulnerabilities of our telecom networks. Phone carriers and consumers must collaborate to identify and communicate what is genuine. This could involve creating a standardized method to verify the authenticity of videos and images or transitioning away from phone calls altogether, toward data-based communication using apps like FaceTime or WhatsApp, which can be linked to your identity.
